According to the Mental Health Charity, Mind “health is not just the absence of mental disorder. It is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.”
Evidence suggests that there are five key activities which can help us to maintain good mental health. These are:
- regular exercise;
- connecting with others to form and maintain meaningful family and social relationships;
- continuing to learn;
- helping others;
- noticing and appreciating the present moment through activities such as mindfulness.
