According to the Mental Health Charity, Mind “health is not just the absence of mental disorder. It is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.

Evidence suggests that there are five key activities which can help us to maintain good mental health. These are:

  • regular exercise;
  • connecting with others to form and maintain meaningful family and social relationships;
  • continuing to learn;
  • helping others;
  • noticing and appreciating the present moment through activities such as mindfulness.
