You seem a bit ambivalent about whether you really want to make this change.

What’s behind that?

Perhaps this is something that someone else thinks you should change – perhaps a friend or relative is putting pressure on you or maybe a medical professional has advised you to make changes. But do YOU really want to?

Changing health habits can be quite hard work initially and it can be a tall order to put in the effort if it’s not something you really want.

Maybe you’re not convinced the benefits will be worth the effort. Maybe you’re not sure how making the change will improve your health.

It’s probably worth spending some time and effort being really clear about your reasons for changing before you start – otherwise you may be less likely to succeed.

Many people find it helpful to write a list of pros and cons of improving this area before making a decision about what to do.

It can also be helpful to be clear about how much effort you are willing to expend.

  • What are you prepared to sacrifice?
  • What are you not prepared to sacrifice?

Now try to imagine yourself in 5 years’ time.

How will your life be if you don’t make a change?

  • What will you look like?
  • How will you feel?
  • How will your general health be?
  • How will it affect your loved ones?
  • How will it affect your finances and career?

Having considered the questions above, on a scale of 1-10 how motivated are you to make a change?

Motivation 6/10 or more?

Still less than 5/10? – Perhaps there is another area you’d rather consider?
